Recent “Amazing” Quotes to Remember

For your consideration, folks, I’d like to bring to your attention a few (what I like to call) recent “amazing” quotes. They are not only amazing, but memorable.

Quotes that perhaps you will remember time and time again.

Quotes that grow on you.

If you’ve already had the pleasure, I’ll bet you won’t mind reading them again. You know, like watching your favorite movie over and over - ‘just can’t get enough.

The first two are found in excerpts from the Buffalo News article from the morning of Wednesday, November 7, 2007, entitled “GOP Maintains Control in Orchard Park”.

Here’s the first, courtesy of Orchard Park Republican Party Chairwoman JoAnn Litwin, who also serves on the Town of Orchard Park Zoning Board of Appeals and the Insurance Advisory Board:

“This is what our town needs,” Republican Chairwoman Joann Litwin told party supporters at Jemiolo’s South restaurant after the (election) results were announced. “These two people [Ackerman and Graber] are going to bring back civility and stability to this town. We have regained our town.”

The second comes from incumbent and now Councilwoman-elect Nan Ackerman:

Ackerman promised to be on her most courteous behavior when the Town Board meets tonight, but she did send one comment Travers Murphy’s way, referring to the conflicts between the Republican majority and the supervisor. “If she doesn’t learn anything by this, we’ll take care of that in two years,” Ackerman said, referring to when Travers Murphy comes up for election.

And the third, already in the “Front Door” Hall of Shame, comes from Councilman Mark Dietrick. This gets a second billing because he acutally uttered this little gem out loud, for all to hear (give or take a few words),  at the November 7, 2007 Town Board meeting, and will be forever memorialized in the Town Board minutes (not to mention right here):

“(Instead of having the Volleyball facility on Weiss Avenue)… now, with People Inc. (proposed senior housing), we have more people, and no tax revenue. Once again, our town’s best interests were held hostage by a few vocal folks on the north side of town.”

Yes, amazing and memorable. But not surprising.

So what do you think?

Indeed, it is going to be an interesting next couple of years in OP.

Can we add a quote from Nan:
If they don’t like it, tell them to move to the Village.

- I don’t know the date of the meeting.

Tell Mr. Dietrick to trade in his Mercedez for my 1992 Honda with 215,000 and see how he feels about his quality of life then.

Maybe the tax revenue is less than what it would have been with the Volleyball Court (though nowhere near what Dietrick claims), but my quality of life is much better with the senior housing.

I for one am tired of sacrificing my neighborhood for the good of those South of me. I think it is time for them to take on some of this development.

Good Idea Jim
I think a few Car dealerships, a Burger King, a Home Depot, and a Delta Sonic would look lovely up at that end of town - bet they would even build them with “Quaker” architecture and cupolas so that they fit right in with the comprehensive plan.

p.s. one of my friends here at the office took her Honda to 237,000!

This comes as no surprise from the two most arrogant members of the town board.
