5/7/08 Transcript of comments to the OP Town Board

Good evening. — After we calculated last year’s taxes, we sighed and wondered where all our money was going. Kevin Gaughn explained how New York State has 80 percent more political representatives per capita than everyone else. Rather than accepting downsizing and job eliminations the way thousands of private businesses have, the reply has been “you can’t do without us. We’re your personal local grass root’s voice to government.”

There has been a number of us who have appeared before you against the Walmart project repeatedly presenting petitions, photos and other various evidence time after time. Conversely, there is an absence of any substantial cohesive residential support for the project. One member of the council had the temerity to insinuate that our’s is the objection of only a few — even after the overflowing turnout at the SEQR scoping session, 90% against the project. HELLO!

The town board created this zoning dilemma. It’s up to you to fix it! Mr. Buchheit made a killing on this arrangement. Perhaps he can return your favor by helping with a solution.

Thank you.

Louis L. Boehm
